The Faerie Glen collection of collectible fairy figurines from Munro, is gaining in popularity due to the finely crafted detail, beautiful facial features, gossamer wings and most of all affordable pricing. Newest in the Faerie Glen series are the Flower Fairy figurines, named for the flowers they are embracing. The word Faerie is derived from Middle English, faierie (fā'ə-rē), which meant then, much as it does now: a tiny, often mischievous, imaginary being. The term glen, is a small, secluded valley. The word did not follow a direct or easy path into modern English. [Middle English, from Scottish Gaelic gleann, from Old Irish glenn.]
Hopefully, those of you who were unfamiliar with the term Faerie Glen, now have a clearer understanding.
